The Time Capsule's Contents...Some Do's and Don'ts:
- Choose the contents carefully; make sure that they "fit" the event, the locale or the concept for which the time capsule was first envisioned.
- Typed documents should be on acid-free paper. DO NOT fold sharply.
- Separate contents by using polyethylene bags or boxes. DO NOT SEAL.

- DO NOT include rubber and plastic items that may emit acidic vapors.
- DO NOT include vegetation (plants) material.
- Remove batteries from any electrical devices.
- Remove corrosion from any metal objects.
- Thoroughly clean and dry all contents before insertion into the time capsule.
- Handle with gloves so the acids in your skin oils do not contaminate the contents.
- Manufactured products are ideally suited for time capsules: power tools, watches, calculators, etc.
- Magnetically recorded material may or may not last. If you include it, make sure to include the playback device, without batteries, because 100 to 200 years from now they will undoubtedly be out-dated, and make sure to state the operating voltage.
